Dedicated OEM telemetry module for industrial and structural systems – case study
Customer challenge
A Swedish company operating in the water supply, energy and industrial automation markets was looking for a dedicated telemetry solution that would enable:
reliable data transmission from hard-to-reach locations,
integration with leak sensors and utility meters,
power supply in locations without permanent power infrastructure,
full control over branding and ownership of the solution.
Standard products available on the market did not meet all requirements – it was necessary to develop an OEM solution that could be adapted to the specific operating conditions and business strategy of the customer.
OEM solution from Inventia
Based on the Customer’s needs, an OEM telemetry module was developed, which combines:
LTE Cat M1/NB1/2G modem for low-cost and energy-efficient communication,
built-in GPS receiver for data synchronisation,
binary interfaces and RS-485 ports for integration with sensors and SCADA systems,
an internal data logger capable of storing up to 28,000 records,
the ability to operate in energy-saving mode (powered by batteries or solar panels),
a durable IP67-rated enclosure that is resistant to dust, moisture and changing weather conditions.
The device was designed and manufactured in an OEM model, providing the Customer with a solution bearing their own logo, tailored to their technical requirements and market strategy.
Effect of implementation
Thanks to the use of the OEM solution:
The customer gained a unique product under their own brand,
the response time to failures and leaks was reduced thanks to continuous online monitoring,
the costs of field services were significantly reduced,
it became possible to further scale the solution – from several hundred to several thousand units,
the company strengthened its competitive position by offering an innovative telemetry solution tailored to the realities of the industry.
Why OEM?
The OEM model made it possible to combine telemetry technology with individual Customer needs:
full customisation of functionality (from hardware to firmware),
rebranding of the device and integration with the existing offer,
optimisation of production costs for larger volumes,
assurance of quality and stability thanks to the ISO 9001:2015 certified system.
This case study shows how the telemetry module in the OEM model can become the foundation of the customer’s own personalised offering – ready for commercialisation and implementation in the industrial, water supply and sewage, energy and smart city sectors.
