AGREUS® – effective support for modern agriculture  

Modern agriculture is facing increasingly volatile weather conditions, rising energy and water costs, and the need for precise fertilisation management. To meet these challenges, farms are turning to digital solutions that allow them to make decisions based on data rather than intuition alone. One such tool is the AGREUS® system, designed for plantations, orchards and specialised crops.

What is AGREUS®?

AGREUS® is a wireless system for monitoring and controlling agrotechnical processes. Based on LoRa® technology, it allows data to be collected from fields, analysed in a web or mobile application, and used to automatically control devices – from irrigation valves to wind machines, mixers, lighting, pumps, etc. This gives farmers insight into crop conditions and allows them to respond in real time to sudden problems related to crop conditions.

Crop monitoring that gives you an advantage!

  • Soil under control – AM-100 probes measure moisture, temperature and salinity (EC), as well as ECw and MCI, which show the actual availability of nutrients in the root zone.
  • Crop microclimate – AM-200 air temperature and humidity sensors calculate dew point, leaf wetness time and disease risk, which helps to plan protection and frost protection measures.
  • Data history – all measurements are archived in the system and available in the form of comparative reports between plots, seasons or parameters.

Control in practice

The system not only measures, but also executes commands:

  • Automatic irrigation – AM-411 or AM-421 valve controllers activate sections based on a schedule that can be dynamically adjusted by soil moisture readings.
  • Device operation – AM-401 relay modules control pumps, wind machines, lighting and actuators.
  • Notifications – SMS, e-mail and alerts in the application and on other devices with access to the AGREUS® system provide immediate information about exceeding thresholds (e.g. frost, drought, excessive salinity or nutrient deficiencies).

The uniqueness of the AGREUS® system is due to the fact that it was developed in close cooperation with the Irrigation Laboratory of the Institute of Horticulture – National Research Institute in Skierniewice, which guarantees that the control algorithms are based on scientific knowledge and practical research.

Agriculture under control – the benefits of implementing the AGREUS® system

1. Apple orchard – frost monitoring and protective device control

Spring frosts are one of the greatest threats to fruit growers. Microclimate sensors that measure air temperature, humidity and dew point have been installed on a farm covering an area of over 60 hectares. The AGREUS® system sends e-mail notifications and/or notifications in the application when the temperature falls below a set threshold. This allows the owner to activate wind machines or other frost protection systems in time. AGREUS® control modules also enable the automated activation of such devices if the farm decides to integrate the control system. This solution allows for a faster response to threats and reduces the risk of crop losses.

 

2. Onion cultivation – rational irrigation

On light soils on a vegetable farm, there was a problem of overflowing and leaching of nutrients. The AGREUS® system is equipped with AM-100 soil probes that measure moisture, temperature and electrical conductivity (EC) at several depths. The data from the probes is sent to the application, where the conditions in the root zone can be analysed on an ongoing basis. On this basis, the user adjusts the irrigation section schedule or uses automatic valve control. As a result, watering is better adapted to the actual needs of the plants, which promotes water savings and more uniform onion growth.

 

3. Nursery production – substrate and fertigation control

In the ornamental tree and shrub nursery, it was crucial to maintain the correct moisture and salinity of the substrates. Miniature AM-100-7 probes were used to monitor substrate moisture, soil solution electrical conductivity (ECw), as well as temperature and light intensity. This makes it possible to assess on an ongoing basis whether the plants are receiving the optimal amount of water and fertiliser. AGREUS® can control watering valves based on set thresholds, which makes it easier to maintain the right conditions in the pots. The system reduces the risk of drying out or excessive salinity and limits the need for manual irrigation.

AGREUS® is an example of how digitisation and automation are changing the way crops are grown. By combining soil and microclimate data with the ability to remotely control devices, the system gives farmers a real tool to increase the efficiency and safety of production – in orchards, vegetable gardens and greenhouse cultivation alike.
