MT-718 – advanced pressure regulator for water supply networks

Maintaining the correct pressure in water supply networks is one of the biggest challenges for operators. Too high pressure leads to water loss and failures, too low pressure leads to customer dissatisfaction. The solution to this problem is telemetry modules, which not only monitor but also actively control pressure reducing valves (PRV).

One of the most advanced devices of this type is the MT-718 a telemetry module in an IP68 enclosure, which, thanks to built-in PRV algorithms, acts as an intelligent pressure regulator.

How does the MT-718 work?

The device controls the output pressure from the PRV valve, modulating it according to the adopted control method. The valve is opened and closed by pulses generated at the module outputs, which allows for precise control of the valve position.

The MT-718 offers two control modes:

  • PRV time (time control)
The pressure is regulated according to a pre-set hourly schedule. The operator can programme different pressure values for day and night. The result? Stable pressure during peak hours and water and energy savings outside of them.
  • PRV flow (flow control)
In this mode, the device adjusts the pressure in real time, based on data from a flow meter installed upstream of the valve. If the flow increases, the pressure increases with it. When it decreases, the regulator automatically lowers the pressure. This solution is particularly valued in large and variable water supply networks.

In both modes, the device uses control tables that define the desired pressure value as a function of time or flow. The regulator calculates intermediate points linearly between the set values, which allows for smooth pressure adjustment.

Regulation in PRV time mode

Intelligent diagnostics and safety

The MT-718 is equipped with an advanced alarm system that immediately detects and signals abnormal operating conditions. The device monitors the parameters of its internal components (e.g. battery voltage, GSM signal level, temperature) as well as process parameters. If any of them exceed the normal range of values, the system automatically generates an alarm and sends it to the operator.

In addition, classic alarms such as high flow, low pressure or deviations from set control values are also supported. In critical situations, the MT-718 can automatically close the valve, protecting the network from damage. Operation can be restored locally, remotely (SMS, packet data transmission) or automatically after a specified time.

Remote configuration and easy operation

The device has been designed with operator convenience in mind. Control and data logging parameters can be set very easily:

  • locally – using configuration software run on a PC,
  • remotely – thanks to packet data transmission in the GSM network, provided by Orange, PLUS or T-Mobile operators.

A dedicated, free MTManager application is used for this purpose.

This allows the operator to respond in real time, change schedules or adjust control parameters without having to send a team to the field.

The MT-718 is a device that combines the functions of a data logger and an intelligent pressure regulator. Thanks to PRV time and PRV flow algorithms, remote GSM communication and built-in security features, the module allows water supply network operators to work more efficiently, safely and cost-effectively.

It is a step towards modern, intelligent water infrastructure management, where pressure stability goes hand in hand with savings and reliability.

Frequently asked questions (Q&A)

What is the MT-718 used for?

The MT-718 is a battery-powered telemetry module equipped with measurement functions and a recorder. The device acts as an intelligent pressure regulator. It controls pressure reducing valves (PRVs), ensuring stable and optimal operating conditions for the water supply network.

What pressure control methods does the MT-718 support?

The device offers, among others:

  • PRV time – regulation according to an hourly schedule,
  • PRV flow – regulation based on actual flow.

This allows you to adjust the operating mode to the characteristics of a given network zone.

Does the device require frequent maintenance?

No. The MT-718 is designed to operate maintenance-free for long periods of time. Thanks to GSM communication, the operator can remotely change control parameters, read data and receive alarms.

What alarms does the MT-718 support?

The device signals, among other things, high flows, too low or too high pressure, as well as abnormal operating conditions (e.g. high temperature, low battery level). Alarms can be sent to master systems in real time.

How can I configure the MT-718?

Configuration is simple – it can be done locally using PC software or remotely using GSM data transmission.
