What is MT Data Provider and how does it facilitate modern automation and telemetry systems?

In modern automation and telemetry systems, data exchange with distributed devices in the field is no longer just a need – it is a standard. That’s why Inventia has created MT Data Providera free driver that facilitates communication with MT, ML and MTX series telemetry modules. With it, you will increase the flexibility of your telemetry systems and speed up their deployment – without having to write your own code.

What is MT Data Provider and how does it make automation work easier?

MT Data Provider (MTDP for short) is a Windows-based application that receives, processes and saves data from Inventia’s telemetry and location modules directly on your server. Importantly, thanks to its ready support for communication frames, you don’t need to create your own drivers MTDP does it for you and is ready to go as soon as you install it.

In addition, MTDP is fully compatible with MTManager software, which allows easy configuration and programming of telemetry modules. From MTManager, you can also manage the MT Data Provider configuration, which greatly simplifies integration with host systems.

MT Data Provider functions that speed up integration - without writing code

Integration with SCADA systems and databases

MT Data Provider works with popular standards and systems:

  • OPC UA and OPC DA – making it compatible with almost any SCADA system,
  • ODBC – allows data to be written to popular databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL,
  • CSV and XML – data can also be exported to files in these formats.

Support for open standards allows easy connection to visualisation systems, spreadsheets and analytical or billing systems.

Format definition, aliasing and filtering of variables

For better organisation of data, MTDP allows:

  • define the format of variables (bool, integer, float, etc.),
  • assign their own names (aliases) to variables from the modules,
  • filter the data, selecting only the variables you are interested in for export, visualisation or analysis.

This gives you full control over the structure and scope of the data transferred, making it easy to use further.

Flexible data collection

MT Data Provider supports different modes of data collection:

  • automatic reception of data sent by the modules,
  • cyclic querying of each individual device,
  • manual ‘on-demand’ queries triggered by a dedicated update variable.

In addition, MTDP can operate in broadcast mode, which is particularly useful in systems with a large number of devices.

Time synchronisation and remote reconfiguration of devices

From the MT Data Provider you can:

  • set the time in the telemetry modules, which is essential for maintaining the accuracy of historical data,
  • remotely reconfigure the parameters of the equipment without requiring physical access to it.

This is a huge time-saver and convenience, especially for battery modules that often operate in sleep mode.

Transmission encryption

The MTDP enables secure communication with modules, which:

  • protects data transmitted over private and public networks,
  • meets the safety requirements of modern industrial systems.

The software driver supports operation in private APNs, increasing the security and reliability of transmission in mobile networks.

Simultaneous data providing

You can use all the functions of the MT Data Provider at the same time -providing data via OPC, writing it to databases and exporting it to CSV, all in real time and without conflicts. This makes it ideal for systems with a large number of devices and high data volumes.

MT Data Provider in practice - less work, complete data integration, full control

MT Data Provider combines:

  • simplicity of implementation,
  • compatibility with industry standards,
  • flexibility of configuration,
  • high communication security.

With it, you not only receive data from Inventia devices, but also manage them comprehensively – remotely, securely and efficiently.

MTDP supports all Inventia telemetry modules, ensuring consistency and uniformity in the management of the various devices. A user interface accessible from the MTManager allows easy configuration of driver settings.

What else can you expect when using MT Data Provider in automation and telemetry systems?

  • effective project management,
  • creation of MT module configuration templates,
  • real-time monitoring of module resources,
  • creation of detailed transmission logs,
  • remote configuration and updating of equipment.

These features make the MT Data Provider an indispensable tool in modern automation systems, guaranteeing secure communication with distributed devices in the field.
