Growing requirements for process safety and reliability mean that remote monitoring of environmental parameters is becoming standard in many industries. At Inventia, we implement projects that respond to these challenges. One of them was the implementation of the MT-058 module, which perfectly demonstrates how our IoT-based solutions support everyday work in archives and warehouses.
Our goal in this project was to monitor important environmental parameters: temperature, humidity and flood detection.
As we wrote in the documentation:
“The aim of the project was to monitor environmental parameters such as air temperature, air humidity and room flooding detection. The project was implemented for two rooms – a warehouse and an archive.”
We installed an MT-058 module in each of the facilities. The devices are equipped with built-in temperature and humidity sensors and an external flood sensor. The data is transmitted using LTE Cat M1 technology to the DataPortal server, and users can conveniently view it from a browser – on a computer, tablet or smartphone.
During implementation, we particularly appreciated the functionality of the MT-058 module as an energy-efficient data logger. The device enables both real-time monitoring and local archiving of measurements.
“The MT-058 module continuously monitors the flood alarm status and measures analogue values (temperature and humidity) at 15-minute intervals. In order to save energy in the battery-powered device, data is sent collectively every 4 hours (this does not apply to emergency situations).”
This solution allows us to combine continuous monitoring with energy savings. In practice, this means that in the event of an alarm – for example, when flooding is detected – the module immediately sends a notification, and in normal operation, the data is collected in the recorder and sent in batches.

A huge advantage of our solution is its integration with the DataPortal system. We present data in the form of clear graphs and tables – both current and historical.
In the project, we have prepared visualisations including, among others:
This allows users to easily analyse trends – e.g. an increase in humidity – and respond in a timely manner.

We designed the system to support those responsible for facility maintenance.
As we emphasised in the documentation:
“In addition to allowing users to view the status of a facility from a browser, the system generates email and SMS notifications in the event of a flood alarm, the need to replace batteries, or the exceeding of temperature/humidity thresholds.”
Importantly, the alarm thresholds can be programmed, making the system flexible and adaptable to the specific characteristics of a given facility.
It is clear that the MT-058 module in combination with DataPortal is more than just a monitoring tool. It is a complete platform supporting the security and reliability of facilities.
As stated in the report:
“Monitoring a facility without the presence of a supervisor on site.”
“The monitoring system does not require an external power supply or connection to the Internet. The module is battery-powered and communicates via the LTE Cat M1 network.”
“High energy efficiency and long operating time on a single battery pack.”
“System scalability – facilities in the DataPortal system can be added and expanded freely.”
“System security – devices transmit data in a secure telemetria.pl subnetwork isolated from the Internet.”
Implementation in the archive and warehouse has shown that the MT-058 module is not only an energy-efficient data logger, but also a complete tool for:
Thanks to integration with DataPortal, users have access to all data anywhere and anytime – all they need is a laptop, tablet or smartphone.
This project proves that environmental parameter monitoring can be reliable, easy to use and completely independent of mains power. By combining temperature, humidity and flood sensors with LTE Cat M1 transmission and the DataPortal system, we offer the ideal solution for facilities requiring constant monitoring, such as warehouses, archives and server rooms.
This implementation is a perfect example of the practical use of the MT-058 module and its potential in modern IoT systems.
The MT-058 module and DataPortal system are a proven solution for companies that want to ensure the security and reliability of their infrastructure.
